Angelina Jolie Escapes Kidnapping Attempt

Angelina Jolie was nearly abducted and held for ransom during a visit to an aid project as a UN Goodwill Ambassador.

She told the News of the World: It was in a small village. I won t say where, or with whom, but some gangsters planned to kidnap me and extort a massive ransom.

I was warned at the last minute, and managed to escape, luckily.

Angelina says that the scare won’t stop her from wanting to help others: I don t want to act like the Mother Teresa of Hollywood. But I want to help where there is poverty and destruction.

It became clear to me [several years ago] that I was an incredibly well-off star, and that I had to do something against the screaming injustice on this planet. Not just by giving speeches, I had to be actively involved. Since then I ve traveled half the world. I want to see the people there up close. I don t shut myself off in some luxurious hotel.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony on the Rocks?

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony seem to be in love in front of the cameras, but sources say they’ve hit a rough patch in their marriage. “There was a fight on New Year’s Eve,” said a source who saw Lopez that night. Another spy said, “There was a fight after she performed at the Super Bowl, and when she had an album-listening party in Miami two months ago, there was an issue.”

According to this source, Lopez stood up and talked about her upcoming album and said, “This is my dream and Marc and I worked so hard on this album . . . Marc, would you like to say something?” – to which Anthony coldly said, “No,” and looked away.

Apparent;y, the main issue is that Lopez is said to be putting off pregnancy. Marc Anthony has four kids with two other women, ais very interested in Scientology.

But a friend of both said, “They fight, sure, but everyone fights.” A rep for Lopez said, “They’re fine.”

For the first 25 seconds of this new Gap commercial starring Claire Danes and Patrick Wilson (Phantom of the Opera, Little Children, does that help?), I was wondering about and slightly annoyed by Claire’s lack of pants. Then, all of a sudden, it made sense. It may not be the ad that helped bring back swing dancing, but it’s pretty darn cute.

Is Mr Hurley worth his recent lavish marriage to Liz?

If the editor of Bombay times, Mark Manuel, is to be believed then Arun Nayar may well end up being christened Mr. Arun Hurley.

And if we take the words penned down by the scribe to a level where the mind starts to clash with the vision, then we are sure to end up with a big blurred image of Arun Nayar’s financial standing.

Mark Manuel, editor of Bombay Times, is not in awe with the multi millionaire image of Arun Nayar. In his words:

No one has heard of his business in India. He is not known as a businessman. His claim to fame is marrying a British celebrity.

And if the man has doubts related to Arun Nayar’s credibility, it is not without a base. Arun Nayar is not listed in the Forbes List of Indian millionaires. Nayar’s software design company, DSS Software Solutions, which boasts an international clientele and a staff of hundreds has its headquarters in a building in Bombay owned by his father, and contains a handful of desks arranged in a converted and modest first-floor flat.
DSS Software Solutions is the venture which was thought to be the source of much of his wealth.

Arun Nayar’s Bombay abode is in a sea facing five-storey building, which provides shelter to his three generations, including his grandmother. A building with peeling plasters, crumbling outside walls and leaking flats, which is yet to recieve the honour of a decent repair job.

Before the lavish marriage got underway at Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire last week, his own mother told a friend:

I can only say that Arun is not such a rich tycoon as the Press is making him out to be.

As per rumours doing rounds in Bombay, she had paid for much of the celebrations.

Arun Nayar, is believed to have inherited wealth from his split-up parents, on the other hand Liz is a self-made millionaire- worth an estimated 13million.

Try doing an online image search for Arun Nayar and you will end up getting a result well expected- 90% of the result show him with Liz Hurley.

The man whose wedding celebrations spanned two continents involving One English castle and three Indian palaces is yet to prove his credibility.
